The Magic that is Dubai!

Dubai had been part of my travel wish list for quite some time. Everything fell into place recently and my wish came true :)
The majestic Burj Khalifa

Dubai is everything what you've already heard of and more.. The playground for the rich and famous, City of Gold, yada yada.. Oh! and yes, there are Malayalis.. Loads of 'em :P That aside, the city's infrastructure is a constant reminder of the awesome power of the human mind.. The Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab are the superstars here.. Every damn souvenir you see.. May it be a tee or even a teeny mobile charm.. They're there!! Apart from the engineering marvels, the beautiful sandy beach with its turquoise blue waters and the never ending majestic desert will definitely leave you spellbound.. All in all the city looks the perfect setting for any Arabian nights story (well, if there is a modern version of the same) :P

Must see, must dos:
  •  One must go on a tiny city tour to check out the culture, the people, the various attractions and shopping arenas Dubai has to offer. You can step out anytime day or night the city is totally safe and the locals are very helpful.. So take a walk, familiarize yourself with the places surrounding your hotel.
  • Want to get a feel of the Arabian desert winds? Then you must not miss the Desert Safari... The most amazing way to experience the desert EVER!! The 4X4 wheel dune bashing drive, dirt biking, camel rides, a barbeque dinner and entertainment in a desert camp in the middle of nowhere is truly worth it.
  • A visit to Dubai would be incomplete without visiting the Burj Khalifa- The tallest building in the World. Getting a ride on the fastest elevator in the World which takes you from 0 to 124th floor (where the observation deck is) in a minute can give you bitter- sweet/ great feeling! The view is absolutely breathtaking when your 452 meters above the sea level.. literally makes you feel like you're the King of the World :)
  • Also, don't miss a chance to stay at the Atlantis- a luxury resort on top of the man-made islands of Palm Jumairah. Or you can also just visit the resort and spend your day at Aquaventure- a kickass water park and the Lost Chambers- an beautiful aquarium showcasing a vibrant collection of aquatic life forms which is bound to take your breath away.
  • If you've got more time at hand and a car enthusiast, you could visit the Ferrari World Abu Dubai which will definitely blow your mind away with its simulators, exhibits and Ferrari themed rides
  • Shop like there's no tomorrow!! In Dubai you get to splurge your heart's content on something small as a keychain to a gold plated Iphone!! With its various malls and shopping centres, it has something to offer for everyone!!!
  • The Arabian Desert
  • Not to forget the food... If you're a foodie, the trip wouldn't be complete without trying the local cuisine.. Believe me, the Shawarmas and Falafels are to die for here!! :)
 Thumbs down to:
  • Dhow Cruise: when I first heard about it, I thought a cruise along the creek of Dubai with food and entertainment would be a fun thing to do but in reality nobody mentioned to me that the food would suck, the entertainment would be a mallu magician and the boat would be old and dirty... This is just a tourist rip off.. Instead one can just take a taxi to the creek and take a walk, the experience is more amazing this way :)
  • The heat is UNBEARABLE...Especially from May to August.. So make sure you always carry your umbrella and your shades to protect yourself during the day.
All in all.. Dubai really matched up to my expectations, making me want to come back for more... It's fun, it has a hidden beauty to it and it's got something for everyone!! I would highly recommend a pit-stop here if you are west bound or just want have a fun filled holiday with family or friends..

The Men we Love, Know and Hate...

"Damn! How I wish I was a guy!!"

Lines like this make men folk think they are a much better gender than us womenfolk... I am very sure all you ladies reading this would have thought of the same exact words many many times... I think about these words too and the truth is, I prefer hanging out with my male friends. My female friends are limited to a handful who I'd like to call "Soul Sisters" as they think and behave exactly like I do... :) I really like my male friends.. I really enjoy laughing at their PJs, talking about favorite rock bands and starting conversations with words like "Wazzzzzzaaaap" or "Macha/ Dude, we should totally go to (Insert random place name)"... :P
As much as I hate to admit it, guy friends are so much more easy going, little things like who bitched about who really don't bother them and they look at life at a more broader angle than how we girls look at it.

Don't be too happy boys.. there are certain things us girls really hate about your kind... things that helps us console ourselves that we better off being girls.. I'm not generalizing things here, I'm just putting down stuff some of you men do that really puts us off...

  • WE want be ourselves all the time... it does not make it easier if y'all keep staring at us like you want to eat us up.. here's a tip.. picture's last longer
  • We are not too happy when you "treat the whole world as your toilet".. That's just super gross
  • We really don't like it when guys try impart some Male chauvinistic ideas to us... Treat us like equals and we'll love you for it
  • AND the pick up lines.. really, they only ruin your chances of getting the girl..
I can keep going on for days about this... But my point is, it is things like these makes us wonder how Justin Timberlake, Shah Rukh Khan, that really good  friend of yours who happens to be a boy and that creepy guy in the bus who tries his luck on you come from the same species... Come to think of it, men are quite confusing... We just have to be glad that we know all the good one's from the lot :P ;) We really love y'all but then y'all have to admit that some of the creeps in your kind really don't make it easier for us...

PS: No disrespect meant to all the guys I know... You guys very well know how much I adore y'all :)

Puppy love!!

As this is my first attempt to blogging I want to make it more special by writing about my babies- Scooby and Dooby.. my 11 year old Boxer brother and sister duo.. Ever since these guys were puppies they never ceased to amaze us (me and my family that is).. Keep reading... you'll know why I'm saying this :P

I can still remember their first day when they were brought home.. They probably thought my parents kidnapped them because all they did was just hide in the bathroom and this is exactly why we called them Scooby and Dooby- such frightened li'l puppies both of them were and still are :)

Talking about courage.. Dooby is more like the warrior princess, she's got a high pitched voice and likes to try her luck to scare off people with it but Scooby on the other hand is what I would like to call- a little boy trapped in a dog's body... He just cannot survive without people around him.. He does the weirdest things when me and my family go out of town. For example, he once tried to wriggle through window bars (AND SUCCEEDED!!). He just cannot live with his kind.. Give him a nice comfy couch, some good food and a person to keep petting him he'll not ask for anything else..

The funniest thing about these guys are that they like coconut oil and shredded coconut.. Even if they get the slightest sound of my mom shredding coconuts they run into the kitchen and wait to get some.. or they'll just sneak in and lick the whole kitchen counter clean.. Also, they do this dance, whenever they see biscuits.. The dance is more like a doggie version of salsa.. lol :D

Dogs are just priceless... they can pee on your living room carpet and still make it look cute by giving the "puppy dog eyes" Their sloppy licks can make your worries shrink smaller, what can I say? I'm just smitten by doggie love :)

Even as I write this post, Scooby is sitting next to me on a bean bag giving me occassional stares to switch off the system so he can sleep in peace... So, I better go.. let my baby catch up on his sleep :P :)
